Today, a diverse set of 13 organizations sent a letter to the U.S. House and Senate calling for common sense reforms in the 2023 farm bill. The letter urges Congress to adopt the following principles when developing the next farm bill:  cost-effective, transparent, sensible, responsive, fair, and simplified. Farmers, ranchers, rural communities, consumers, the environment, and taxpayers alike would benefit from common sense reforms to farm bill programs, particularly those in the Commodity, Conservation, and Crop Insurance titles. In short, the 2023 farm bill must promote resilience, instead of dependence on federal farm subsidies.
