On May 13, the Green Scissors Coalition wrote a letter urging members of Congress to not extend the 45Z tax credit through 2031 and not broaden the credit by excluding emissions from indirect land-use changes from the lifecycle emissions requirement—provisions included in the House Ways and Means Committee’s draft text for their portion of the reconciliation bill—as these changes would only increase costs without providing commensurate benefits to taxpayers.
